comment if you want an explaination of the subject
or choose to infer what you will with the given brush strokes

....

I LIKE this. not the subject, or the motive, don't get me wrong, but the conceptual aspects of it, and the brush strokes.

Ehhhh... Awkward.

Anyways, if you'd like to explain, knock yourself out (but only after you're done please), otherwise, I shall create macabre scenarios of love and betrayal, emotional crises of epic proportions, to my heart's desire.

^_~

lol

I enjoy doing that, pay no mind.

I love the color palatte and the texture. The brushstrokes create a lot of interest and the way you divided the picture plane has a great balance to it.

Have you ever tried mixing modeling paste with your acrylics, you can create a wide variety of textures with it, especially the really thick kind. Also, have you ever tried painting on gessoed masonite board or some other hard surface? I find it works well to create textures on top of and the paint wont come off in time like it will break off of bristol board.
:iconthelongnight:
yes! it's a lot of fun to mix modeling paste, i found that out last year, and same with the gesso as well. i love the textures that they can create. i usually paint on canvasboard, bristol when i've run out of that, and stretched canvas even less frequently [that gets pricey].

thank you for the in-depth comment and for the fave.
i really like your featured deviation.
:iconthelongnight:
why THANK you! :) please comment and tell me what sort of macabre scenarios and emotional crises you have come up with. i'm quite intrigued...perhaps one of them will be on target?
:icondlusionlvr:
Thanks! Oi, canvasboard, I loooathe canvasboard. Everything I painted in undergrad was on canvasboard and now they're all warped! Of course they're not great paintings but the boards don't last. But yeah, my wallet loathes my stretched canvases, mostly because I buy huge prestretched thick ones cause I can't stretch canvas to save my life. I like to paint on a surface that can take some abuse and a crummy stretch job simply doesn't. I just happen to be lucky at the moment and am buying canvases for grad school out of my school savings.

lol

You force my imagination?

Hang on, need to view the painting again...

*checks*

Hmmm... Start with the easy ones. That's (regardless of how we angst over it) usually what it is.

Let's see... Starting with the title.. Disaster. As impying events going catastrophically wrong. Then, the first phrase "say my name", makes me think departures, rejection. Then add in "burden", "useless", and "worthless", and I begin to think rejection even more, with a hint of parental vibes. The rest of the words/phrases (ie: "tell me you love me", "waste of money", "I hate you", etc) also run along this vein.

Soooo... Extrapolating from the given information, my first broad guess would be parental issues. Inability to compare to standards, and a general feeling of defeat/worthlessness.

Big brother/sister complex. Even if you don't have one, it's the general idea that someone you look up to (generally parents), regards you as consistantly falling short of their expectations, which leads to feelings of insecurity, overexertion, and eventually, self-hatred.

^_^;;

Anywhere in the ballpark?

Regardless, I actually enjoyed this (not WHAT I was analyzing, just the analasys itself... kinda), but if there is anything I can in any way, shape, or form do to help at all...

Don't hesitate to let me know.

identification is only half the work.

Hope things go well.

"...my first broad guess would be parental issues." close, close!

when i was little my mom married a not-so-nice guy who decided to pretty much make me his toy. they eventually divorced, but not before damage was done. this painting was just a simple way for me to convey some of those repressed memories that like to spring to mind from time to time.
:iconthelongnight:
urg i can't stretch canvas either; i blow $ on getting the prestretched ones as well. as for the canvasboard - i get it supplied at no cost by my a.p. teacher, so i figured, "hey i'll take what i can get." you have a school savings to dip into for art supplies...my school savings are going to be spent on meals. ah well. :)
:iconichijiku:
o_O?

Really? How odd, doesn't jive with what I thought.

Well, at least it was in the ballpark.

^_^;;

Yeahhh...Sorry, but I really enjoyed analyzing that.

*really likes psychology*
